You were like a willow tree
steadfast and immovable 
When you swayed,
you swept the family forward
Remaining rooted in unconditional love 

You were resilient through storms,
Our backbone

Bent, but never broke,
Carrying us all
Our ancestors were right
To nominate you
A pillar of the clan
You stood with persistence,
with perseverance,
with integrity
I respect you deeply
for how much you overcame,
for the quiet strength

for the trauma you fought to undo

Thank you for your heart
Your beautiful fierce heart
dependable,
responsible,
respectable
Because of it, I can become
